Alexis Moore

My name is Alexis Moore and I am a recent Texas Christian University graduate with a B.S. in Fashion Merchandising and Anthropology. I am seeking experience within the fashion industry that will provide me with the opportunity to apply skills I have developed throughout my studies as well as expand my knowledge.

I am from El Paso, Texas where I began my college experience majoring in Pre-Pharmacy at the University of Texas at El Paso. After completing my first semester there I started questioning my decision and began to seek other opportunities. This is where I discovered my interest in cultural anthropology; however, I wasn’t convinced I wanted to major in it. I decided to look into more creative majors and found one that caught my eye: Fashion Merchandising. By my second semester at UTEP I applied to TCU as a Fashion Merchandising major with the intention of minoring in Anthropology. I was accepted and after an amazing year at TCU I realized I wanted to double major. I love fashion and am a logical person who is good with numbers, but I also enjoy learning about other cultures and people because I believe it is key to understanding each other and communication.

My experience as an Apparel Construction Teaching Assistant cultivated my leadership and communication skills. As a TA I provided individual direction and assistance to students in order to ensure the timely completion of their projects. As a result of many students asking me different questions at one time, my multi-tasking skills improved and I learned to quickly and efficiently help each student. Additionally, during my internship at DLM Supply, I would analyze selling reports, markup and markdown items, place orders, receive purchases, provide customer service, and more. My experience at DLM Supply allowed me to take on many different responsibilities since it is a small boutique. I even got the opportunity to go to market in Dallas twice and give my opinion on buying decisions.

Overall, my past experience combined with my analytical skills, competency in math, as well as my proficiency in Microsoft Excel has prepared me to contribute within the fashion industry. In the future I hope to obtain a position related to buying or management. Further information about my experience and skillset can be found in my resume.
