Texas Christian University | 08/2014 - Present

I am an undergraduate student at Texas Christian  University in the College of Science and Engineering through the John V. Roach Honors College pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a minor in both Spanish and Chemistry.

 

McAllen High School | 08/2010 - 05/2014

 

I graduated with a high school diploma as a Texas Scholar under the Distinguished Achievement Program, and as a Tech Prep Scholar. I was in the top 1.5% of my class, ranked number 7 of 444. 

 

South Texas College | 08/2012 - 05/2014

I participated in the Dual-Enrollment Program through McAllen High School in affiliation with South Texas College, as well as separately enrolling in the college, and earned 41 hours for college credit. 

 

Awards/Honors

Class President

For the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school years, I served as class president, elected by the student body. The class president is responsible for hosting class meetings, appointing committees as are necessary for carrying out activities of the Student Council, supervise the work of other members/officers, and be a representative for his/her grade level at local, state, and national Student Council forums.

 

DAR Youth Citizenship Medal

 

The Daughters of the American Revolution Youth Citizenship Medal (formerly Good Citizenship Medal) is presented to a student who exemplifies the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism. This medal may only be awarded to one student per school and is voted on by the entire faculty and staff. The medal allows for constant active involvement in the DAR, regardless of time.

 

Extra Curricular Activity

Chi Omega

I am a member of the Rho Epsilon chapter of the Chi Omega fraternity through the TCU Panhellenic. 

 

Alpha Epsilon Delta

I am a member of the TCU chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta, a pre-health fraternity that benefits both the growth of the pre-health student body and the community.

 

TCU LEAPS

TCU LEAPS is a campus-wide service organization sending students, faculty, staff and alumni to serve together in our community. Participants spend a Saturday each semester volunteering with local agencies, then return to campus for reflection. Our hope is that LEAPS is just a beginning, encouraging us all to learn about and get connected to our community. 

 

Make-A-Wish

I am a Wish Granter for the North Texas chapter of Make-A-Wish and work for bilingual families. This involves close and time committed interaction with terminally ill children and their families. 

 

Work Experience

Emergency Room Scribe at Valley Baptist Health Center

Over the summer I interned in the emergency room at Valley Baptist Health Center in Harlingen, Texas. I worked under the service of attending emergency physician Dr. Michael Mohun. I clocked nearly 100 hours in the emergency room this summer working as both a medical scribe and a general surgery shadow.

 

Camp Mystic

Over the summer I worked as a camp counselor at Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas. I was also a lifeguard and first aid certified supervisor on the waterfront. I supervised 35 sixth graders in a cabin setting.

 

Sam E. Hargis, DDS

My first job was working for my dad as an office assistant. I worked 3 hours almost each Saturday. While at the office, I was in charge of answering the phone, filing, and invoicing. 

 

Dias Festivos Marketplace

Dias Festivos is a Junior League Fundraiser that hosts various venders from across the nation each December. As an employee of the marketplace, I manned various information booths and ticket sales booths.

 

Debbie Groves Jewlery, Inc.

Debbie Groves is a jewelry designer and vendor from Santa Fe, New Mexico. She owns and operates a jewelry shop in McAllen, and I manage the public relations aspect of her company. In January 2013, I shot a twenty-minute segment for the local television channel explaining the story and current on-goings of her company.
